This beautiful geranium is one of my all-time favorite rescues.
When I first spotted it on the clearance shelf at our local Walmart in May of 2022, I thought it was too far gone to be rescued.
I walked away and continued shopping, but the sad flower never left my thoughts.
Before paying for my groceries, I was drawn back into the garden center.
Now, over a year later, the flower never looked better.
Spending $3 for a constant reminder to NEVER GIVE UP was worth it!

About the book:
In the summer of 2008, Miriam Hurdle was diagnosed with melanoma-an aggressive and invasive cancer in her internal organs. The survival rate before 2008 was low. Besides risking harsh treatments for a slim chance of survival, Miriam had hoops to jump through. By the time she received treatment at the beginning of 2009, her cancer had progressed from stage II to stage IV. It was a rough and uphill winding road. But alongside her was support and encouragement. Accompanied by the love of her family and community, this is Miriam’s journey of faith and miracle. It is a heartwarming story of resilience, courage, and the will to live.

It strikes me that your rescued geranium could be a metaphor for the downtrodden characters in your books, ones that thrive with the gentle care you give them. Congratulations!
I may have to get this book for my friend, Jackie who has mesothelioma. She has given up on the treatments because they are doing more damage than the cancer. It takes so long from diagnosis to treatment that most don't make it. I was very lucky that I caught my cancer .super early and even though we have an extreme doctor shortage here, I was treated relatively quickly. I'll look it up. I miss my geraniums. Yours looks wonderful. They know they are loved.
