Congratulations to Patti! I enjoy seeing your hummingbirds - I need to get a feeder to attract them. I don't think I've ever seen one in-person, or "in-bird!" Thanks for your updates, Jill :)

You'll have to wait until next spring, Barbara. Your hummies have probably migrated to a warmer climate by now. Thanks for visiting!

I saw two hummingbirds this morning, not close to one another at first, just sort of hovering quite a ways apart. Then suddenly one zoomed toward the other and they started dancing through the air together. :)

I've been meaning to start a puzzle. That sort of time investment just seems so indulgent! Like I should be scrubbing a bathtub or something instead! But I should make the time regardless. :)

That's their courtship dance, Betsy. It great to see and hear!

Well, I do a lot of my writing (dictating) at the puzzle, but I'll also do a couple pieces then get up and clean something...totally guilt free! :) Thanks for stopping by!

I did figure that was their courtship dance. I wondered at the time of year for it, though.

Good plan re: when you do your puzzles. I'll bet it's a great time to think through plots and what needs to be done around the house. ;)

You're right, but I think sometimes the male will start the dance just to show off. :)

Yes, I wrote an entire book at the puzzle one year because I couldn't type.

Wow. I REALLY should start a puzzle then. ;)

LOL! You should! :)

Haha. Next you need to write to us about this great talk to text software you use to write books! Honestly, I wonder if I could think about a book and a puzzle at the same time. My brain these days has a hard time on just one task!

I guess I'd better invest in my jigsaw puzzles!!! Now, if I could just keep the grandkids away from them if I do so.

Yes! We both have a history of Alzheimer's in the family, so definitely!

Maybe you can buy the grandkids the puzzles with wooden pieces. Thanks for visiting, Irene. xo

Congrats to Pattisteps!

Glad you got that fern. Your puzzle looks like the perfect fall puzzle. I used to love to put together puzzles based on the art of Charles Wysocki. I mostly love those small-town scenes with lots of crops and stores and people. 😊

I love the Charles Wysocki puzzles too, Linda! I think I have a couple in our TBW(To Be Worked) cabinet. Yes, those small-town scenes are fun to put together. Maybe I'll mail one to you! Thanks for stopping by. xo

It's been ages since I've seen one of his puzzles. I wound up buying a coffeetable book that featured his art. 😊

That's a great idea! I see his puzzles at Tuesday Morning and Hobby Lobby. Walmart used to carry them, but I haven't checked lately. Do you have a space in your condo to work puzzles?

Unfortunately not yet. My coffee table is covered with stuff. I still need to sort through stuff!

Happy September, Jill! Sometimes this is the most beautiful month.

What do you do with your finished puzzles?

Expand full comment

Happy September, Merril! You've started off the month with some amazing photographs. I've enjoyed them!

We used to glue the puzzles and hang them in our garage. It was like an art gallery...until...a pipe burst and flooded part of our house, including the garage. Now we take a photo and then box them up to donate. I've mailed a few to reader/blogger friends. During the pandemic we gave them to neighbors through Nextdoor.com. Puzzles were hard to come by, but we always have tons. Are you interested? LOL! Thanks for stopping by. xo

Thank you, Jill!

Oh, that's a lovely idea to box up and donate them. I do remember lots of people did them when we were in lockdown and puzzles became hard to get.

I not a puzzle person (puzzling perhaps 😏), but thank you!

LOL! I understand, Merril. My father once said that our puzzle addiction was "puzzling." :)
