HI Jill, I also like evergreens and we have a few in our garden. Some were struck by lightening a few years back and we had to have them cut down and taken away. Good luck with the achievement of your deadline.

Thank you, Robbie. I'm sorry to hear about your evergreens. I hope there are a few that survived. Thanks for visiting!

Hi, Jill - Not only are you a talented author, you are also a talented gardener. The plants, flowers and shrubs that you have nourtured look absolutely amazing!

Hi Donna! Thank you for your kinds words. I have to give Derek a lot of credit, too. Speaking of talent, congratulations to you son Creighton on his recent book! I know you are proud. Thanks for visiting! xo

I love Donald. I always smile when I see her.

I love looking at your rescue plants.

Many years ago, I worked at Walmart in the garden department. The boss would let me take home the plants that looked dead. My Mom had a green thumb and was usually able to bring them back to life. Sometimes I would take them back to the store and we'd sell them. She didn't want 5 or 6 of the same plant.

I'm happy Donald makes you smile, Debbie! Wow, that's great your boss allowed you to bring the plants home so your mother could revive them. I love it! They should have paid her a commission on the ones they sold! Thanks for sharing. I appreciate your visit today. xo

Those Japanese false cypress are impressive. Your plants are so lovely and I’m glad the lantana is blooming a bit. Seems like Donald enjoys your company 🙂

Expand full comment

Hi Marie! Yes, they've done well. The cypress recently had spider mites, but I think we got rid of them in time. I'm sure your lantana is doing well, too. Donald enjoys hanging out with us. Thanks for stopping by! xo

Good afternoon Jill

I love how you get the goodies on sale! (Sounds like me, when I have funds to do so.) Even better were the puzzles on sale - very nifty.

Speaking of sales, my BFF and I stopped by a huge thrift furniture (antiques) store to browse. In another section were things like glassware, aprons, and other miscellaneous items. I found four Trivial Pursuit card sets marked for $4 a piece. I ended up getting all four for $6 (that was the only cash either one of us had!) The titles: TV, Silver Screen, Baby Boomers, and the !980's Editions!

Hugs and have a wonderful Wednesday!

Cheryl Arcemont 🤗💖

Hi Cheryl! Oh, the Trivial Pursuit card sets sound like winners! That should be fun. I love anything nostalgic. You'll have to let me know if you win. :) As for picking up goodies on sale...I never pay full price for anything! Thanks for stopping by today. It's always nice to hear from you! xo

Ha! Forgot to mention the duck-with-a-personality. That is the friendliest duck.

She is very friendly and seems to enjoy hanging out with us. :)

Donald cracks me up. Apparently that duck isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Love the plants and how they thrive under your care! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Jan! I know! Donald is so funny. You should see her when it's pouring rain. She'll swim around in the sand traps. I hope she doesn't leave, but I guess you never know with wild critters. Thanks for stopping by! xo

I love how cozy Donald is with you, wagging her tail like that. So cute. Your yard is so vast and beautiful. Funny about the cypress trees and how they used to be in pots. I couldn't help but think, like with children: They grow up so fast!

The 50s must've been a spectacular time: Dancing to jukebox music in the diner. What fun. Happy Days. ;)

Hi Betsy! Guess what? Donald is allowing me to pet her now. At first, she'd nipped at my hand. Then she'd do a little side step away from me. Now, I'll pet her while she eats and she doesn't seem phased by it. I'd love to pick her up, but I don't think she's ready for that. Thank you. Our yard backs up to a golf course, so that's not all of our property. I wish it was! Then we could have more critters. :) I agree with you about the 50s. Sometimes I think I was born to late. :) Thanks for popping over! xo

That's so great about Donald! I doubt ducks are much used to being picked up, so that could be a tough one. Having her eventually come to you to be pet will be amazing though!

Being next to a golf course is great! Assuming you don't frequently get balls in your yard, that is. :/

I've thought the same thing about being born too late, but have convinced myself we're all born at precisely the time we were meant to be. There's comfort in that. :)

Yes, it was nice when Donald finally allowed me to pet her. I felt like she trusted me.

We do get a lot of balls in the yard, but that okay because they are put to good use. Thankfully, in the 18+ years, we've only had one broken window. I agree about being born at the right time, too. :)

Expand full comment

So, out of curiosity, does the golf course pay to have windows replaced when they break from golf balls soaring through them?

Expand full comment

Unfortunately, no. It's up to the golfer, but sadly, the golfer who broke ours denied it was his ball.

That's awful. :(

We love nurturing evergreens to live a full life and have seen our efforts flourish. Bringing green growth to maturity is so rewarding, as you well know.

Oh yes, it certainly is, Irene. I've seen some of your incredible evergreens. You have a gorgeous lot. Thanks for stopping by! xo

Donald wasn’t interested in being a movie star. I love your puzzles. I’m also a plant rescuer as was my dad. A little TLC and they flourish. Have a blessed day.

LOL! You're right, Lucy. I think she was too busy looking for a snack. That's great to hear you like to rescue plants, too. It sounds like you picked that up from your father...that's nice. Yes, it amazes me that stores will cast them aside when all they need is a little TLC. I appreciate your visit! xo

I love the clip of Donald. Sometimes we get quail families in our yard, but they run from one bush to another and don't pause to chat. Lucky you to have a beautiful wild friend. ❤️

I've never seen a quail in the wild, Gwen. I know you see a lot of wild critters during your walks. Donald makes us smile. She'll just appear out of nowhere. Yesterday, she came up on the back patio and was looking in the bay window at me! Thanks for visiting today! xo

Oh my word that lantana is beautiful! I made a note of it, never having heard of it.

I'm sure you have a lot to do on your new series, particularly with art suggestions. You are in my prayers!

You would love Donald, Linda! She eats up the attention. Last summer we had a lantana that was a super bloomer. This one has been slow, but in the past week it's starting to put on a show. I was happy when I spotted the hummies going to it. Thank you for your prayers! I appreciate your visit today. xo

Donald seems like he has quite the personality1

Yes, they are very delicate. More have bloomed since I took the photo. I'll email you another picture soon. Well, this evening Donald had a feisty personality. She was going after my toes! :)

Hi Elaine! It's so nice of you to stop by today. I've been praying for you and your family. Oh yes, Donald is a happy duck. She loves to waddle around when the tropical downpours roll through. I've been enjoying the puzzles. I'm hoping this one has all of its pieces. Thanks for visiting! Take care of yourself. xo

Hi Merril! Donald does seem happy, but sometimes I worry that she's lonely. The Canadian geese aren't very friendly to her. If I had some duck diapers, I'd bring her inside! LOL! Thanks for visiting. xo
